Day 4: KIE Conference (Knowledge, Innovation and Enterprise)

I’m super excited, I just completed presenting to the KIE conference.

…Feels amazing to have presented! I did it. My first conference. Dr. James Ogunleye had some great questions about the 4 C’s of creativity. When the topic of everyday creativity usually comes up, people gravitate towards those who are genius or those who look at creativity in an everyday capacity. I know my project is called everyday creativity - and it seems like it would relate to the one side of the spectrum of creativity that relates to little things and everything. For me, I do not see the distinction, nor do I like the idea that one might judge or analyze and state that an idea that is both novel and useful is mini-c creative or maybe Pro- or Big- C. This dances along the fence of accessibility and inclusion. For example, the fear is that a gatekeeper in the domain who sits in his dusty leather chair next to his fireplace and smoking jacket paging through and deciding what happens to be plain-old-everyday creativity and the ideas that may be worthy of the Nobel prize. Frankly, we all need to realize that creativity is everywhere and for everyone - and once this reality is shared amongst everyone, we will begin to believe that some of these Nobel prize ideas may actually be born out of someone or someplace least expected.

Day 3: This is a research study

This everyday creativity is the funnest part of the day for sure and also adds up…this is research and everything I do makes an impact in some way…this headache feels like my body telling me I’m trying to do too much. Whether that’s true or not, there is a reality that must be considered.

How do I take actions to recognize the “too” much….

1. Ask for help?

2. Take stock of what I’m doing and know I can’t do it all.

3. Time manage and block out time for the most important and high priority items.

I didn’t get any solid hits for my fun incubation question. One thing for sure, engaging with the people, the workers, and connecting with them is what makes work fun for me and hopefully for them? What’s their favorite part of the job? Also, the Wallas Box - giving the employees ways to understand companies creativity, climate, culture. I want to review the literature and bring them ways to do exactly what I’m learning in real-life.

Day 2: Pressure is on

Can we not agree to do it our own way, and be happy with it.

Today I give creative affirmation to be myself, and allow my own uniqueness to get some room to expand to be free. Less trying to fit any patterns and no “normal”. Normal is the setting on the washing machine, and that’s about the extent of it. I love my voice and my life and my experiences. I love to show magic and energy and knowledge and how they all come together for this beautiful experience. So, even though there is a big to-do list, maybe enjoy doing them and with some fun and love attached today.
